Data steward Radboud Healthy Data program [Netherlands]


 
One year, with possible extension As data steward, you will be involved in making an inventory of relevant datasets and accompanying metadata on campus, and of metadata schemes and standards that are in use. Your task will also be to clarify conditions of use for these datasets, also in the context of the GDPR, and to create requirement lists and establish prioritization criteria for FAIRification of datasets in HealthyData. You will work with health researcher on the FAIRification of their data and the curation and submission of their datasets and associated metadata to the Radboud Data Repository. Further you will work on proposals for defining requirements to other platform(s) for data sharing in HealthyData and work on the definition of a data governance framework for real-world data collected in health care and by citizens.

You will work as a member of Radboud’s HealthyData program, which offers a campuswide team of colleagues for collaborating on connecting and sharing health-related data and research methods. As such you will contribute to Healthy Data’s work package for data unlocking. You will also directly engage with and support researchers in Radboudumc in their FAIR data management and the data FAIRification process.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Support assembly of a Radboud-wide campus inventory of data and metadata schemes.
  • Participate and invest in the campus wide network of FAIR data stewards and experts.
  • Develop shared work processes and standards in FAIR data.
  • Build FAIR expertise among researchers and health care professionals.
  • Make stakeholders at national, regional, domain and local levels aware of the motivations for and the importance of FAIR data.
  • Engage with clinicians and researchers, and support and train them in FAIR data management and the data FAIRification process.
  • Participate in national and international data stewardship discussion groups and coordination and competence building initiatives, such as the rare disease linked data and ontology task force and the data steward interest group run by the Dutch Techcentre for the Life Sciences.
  • Contribute to FAIR tooling and infrastructure for specific use cases selected by Healthy Data.

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3.230 and € 5.088 (scale 10) based on full-time employment.

  • As a full-time employee (36 hours per week), you are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.

The Radboud Healthy Data program is a joint, digital transformation program of Radboud University and Radboud university medical center, which focuses on health (related) data and research. As a data steward, you can be part of this exciting program, bringing and increasing your expertise in mapping, curating and making valuable research data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interpretable, Reusable). The position will be embedded in the joint data steward groups of the Medical BioSciences department and the Radboud Technology Center Data Stewardship. We are committed to the reusability of data, tools, and services for researchers, and putting the FAIR data principles into action. The Healthy Data program will closely interact with the national Health-RI program and Radboudumc’s Digital Competence Center to facilitate researchers and healthcare professionals companies in their data-driven research and healthcare innovations.

You have proven expertise in a discipline within data science, life science or library science.

You have proven experience in the management of health data and/or the FAIRification of data, harmonisation of metadata schemes, GDPR aspects of research on sensitive data, knowledge about the potential and risks of advanced methods of AI-based data processing and application development, as evidenced by participation in research projects, publications and/or teaching experience. You are well aware of ethical and privacy aspects in this particular context.

You have a demonstrated ability to interact and establish links with other communication science and/or data science subdisciplines.
