Job Responsibilities:
  • To enhance health and safety preventive measure for complex, brownfield and potentially hazardous tasks during the planning execution of a construction project.
  • Responsibilities include development of proposed specification for complex and brownfield task and primary oversight of and leading effective safety activities such as coaching contractor and project staff on safe work practices, pre-job safety planning (i.e. overview of contractor sites specific safety plans, co-leading Scope of work Risk assessment, pre-mobilization meetings, job safety analysis, working at heights planning), safety observations, site inspections/audits, data analysis, corrective action plans and contractor orientation.
  • Responsibilities also include managing team of safety professionals and ensuring the construction site is compliant with Federal, Provincial/State, Local EHS laws and regulations, as well as Construction Safety Guidelines and EHS policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
    Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Associated Safety Professional (ASP), or specialization in H&S engineering, Safety Management Specialist (SMS), NEBOSH certified / NVQ Level 3/5 Health & Safety, preferred
  • 10 years’ experience in construction safety
  • Experience in industrial construction, safety management systems, risk prevention
  • Knowledge of
  • Directive 92/57/EEC – Mobile construction sites
  • Directive 89/391/EEC – Safety & Health at Work
  • ISO45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Mgt systems
  • OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
  • ANSI A10 Standards
  • NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 241
  • NFPA 70E
  • Familiarity with preventing Serious Injury or fatality (SIFs)
